Project Overview

Shirley Chisholm Village is a 165,860-square-foot, 55-foot-tall affordable housing development in San Francisco delivering 135 residential units, ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments. The project prioritizes SFUSD educators, staff, and qualifying local housing preference applicants, with units serving both low and moderate income households earning between 40% and 120% of Area Median Income. In addition to residential space, the development includes public amenities, parking for 50 vehicles, and bicycle parking for 68 bikes, supporting a modern, transit-oriented housing environment.

Engineered by KPFF (structural) and Emerald City (MEP), the project integrates contemporary building systems with a strong emphasis on reliability and performance. From a telecommunications construction perspective, Shirley Chisholm Village incorporates a comprehensive low-voltage infrastructure including structured cabling systems, fiber optic backbone distribution, and strategically located MDF and IDF network rooms. These systems support high-speed internet access, secure access control, smart residential building technologies, and robust resident communication platforms, ensuring long-term scalability and operational efficiency.

MDC Low Voltage Systems partnered with Design Electric as a key trade partner to coordinate and deliver the integrated electrical and telecommunications scope, aligning power, pathway, and low-voltage systems to achieve seamless connectivity throughout the development. This collaboration supports a fully integrated building technology environment that enhances both resident experience and building management capabilities.
