Project Overview
The new 55,000-square-foot, three-story Science Building at Contra Costa College’s San Pablo Campus was designed to advance STEM education through a dynamic mix of modern teaching laboratories, laboratory support spaces, collaborative study areas, classrooms, meeting rooms, and faculty offices. A signature feature of the facility is its custom-built two-story planetarium, while expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing offers visitors a unique view into the second-floor biotechnology laboratories, showcasing student learning and research in action.
As part of the project’s design-build technology infrastructure, the facility incorporates a robust telecommunications backbone supporting high-speed data connectivity, advanced classroom technology, laboratory communications systems, and campus-wide network integration. The buildout included structured cabling systems, fiber optic connectivity, and telecommunications infrastructure serving classrooms, laboratories, administrative spaces, and collaborative learning environments. Together, the state-of-the-art educational facilities and technology systems create a future-ready science center that enhances learning, research, and campus engagement.
